Mandatory

Driver Verification

Every driver completes identity verification before their first ride. We verify government-issued ID, driver's licence, and vehicle registration. Unverified drivers cannot accept bookings.

Annual renewal

Background Checks

All drivers must hold a current criminal record check from their own jurisdiction at onboarding (e.g. DBS in the UK, equivalents elsewhere). The driver supplies this; we review the document. Any disclosed criminal conviction is reviewed against our acceptance policy and may result in suspension. Real third-party DBS-direct integration is on the roadmap for 2027.

Live GPS Tracking

Your exact route is tracked from the moment your driver accepts the ride to drop-off. If your route deviates significantly from the expected path, our systems flag it automatically.

Emergency

Panic Button

One tap in the app activates our emergency response. We alert local emergency services with your GPS coordinates and notify your emergency contacts simultaneously. Available on every active trip.

Live link

Trip Sharing

Share a live link of your trip with up to 5 trusted contacts. They can watch your ride in real-time — your location, driver details, and estimated arrival. No app required on their end.

After every trip

Driver Ratings

After every trip, you rate your driver. Drivers with ratings below 4.5 are automatically reviewed. Drivers with persistent poor ratings are suspended. Your ratings directly affect driver quality.

Community Guidelines

Safety is a shared responsibility. These guidelines apply to every driver and passenger on GeraRide.

For Drivers

  • Accept only trips booked through the GeraRide app — never informal requests
  • Never ask passengers for personal contact details or to continue outside the app
  • Maintain a clean, roadworthy vehicle at all times
  • Do not use a phone while driving — use hands-free or pull over
  • Respect all local traffic laws and speed limits
  • Do not consume alcohol or drugs before or during a shift
  • Treat all passengers with respect regardless of background or destination
  • Immediately report any safety incident to GeraRide support

For Passengers

  • Always verify your driver's name, photo, and plate number before getting in
  • Sit in the back seat when travelling alone
  • Share your trip link with a trusted contact before departing
  • Trust your instincts — if something feels wrong, cancel the trip and exit safely
  • Report any concern immediately using the in-app panic button or safety report
  • Do not share personal details with your driver beyond what is necessary
  • Rate your driver honestly — your feedback improves safety for everyone

Available during any active trip in the bottom of the booking screen.

Select your emergency

Choose from: Call 112, Share location with emergency contact, or Report a safety issue.

We act immediately

Our safety team is alerted. Your GPS location is shared with local emergency services if you choose Call 112.

Follow-up support

Our safety team follows up within 1 hour of any emergency report. All incidents are reviewed within 24 hours.
