How do I book a ride with GeraRide?

Accepted Answer

Open the GeraRide app, enter your pickup location and destination, choose your ride type (Standard, Premium, or XL), and tap Book Ride. You can pay by card, mobile money, or GeraRide wallet. A driver will be matched and arrive within minutes. You can also book via geraride.com on any browser.

Can I schedule a ride in advance?

Yes. Tap "Schedule Ride" when booking and select any date and time up to 7 days in advance. You will receive a reminder notification 30 minutes before your pickup. Scheduled rides are guaranteed — we lock a driver for your booking. A small scheduling fee applies.

What if my driver cancels my ride?

Accepted Answer

If your driver cancels, we immediately rematch you with the next available driver at no extra cost — your original fare is guaranteed. If no driver is available within 5 minutes, you receive a full refund plus a credit towards your next ride as a goodwill gesture.

Can I request a specific driver I have ridden with before?

Accepted Answer

Yes. In the app go to Ride History, find a past trip with that driver, and tap "Ride Again." We will prioritise connecting you with that driver if they are online and nearby. This feature requires both you and the driver to have completed at least 5 trips together.

How is my fare calculated?

Accepted Answer

Your fare is calculated based on a base fare, a per-kilometre rate, and a per-minute rate for the duration of the trip. You will always see the estimated fare before you confirm your booking — we never charge more than the estimate unless your journey changes significantly (e.g. major detour at your request). Tolls are included in the fare; there are no hidden charges.

Are there surge prices during busy times?

Accepted Answer

During peak hours or high-demand events, dynamic pricing may apply. You will always see a surge multiplier clearly displayed before confirming — e.g. "1.5x pricing active." You can choose to wait a few minutes until demand normalises, set a price alert, or confirm at the current rate. We never apply surge without your knowledge.

What is included in the fare?

Accepted Answer

The quoted fare includes all base charges, per-km, per-minute, and a platform service fee. Tolls and parking fees (e.g. airport pick-up) are included. Tips are optional and go 100% to your driver. There are no booking fees, cancellation fees (if cancelled within 2 minutes), or surprise charges.

Are there any cancellation fees?

Accepted Answer

Cancellations within 2 minutes of booking are always free. If you cancel after a driver has accepted and is en route, a small cancellation fee applies to compensate the driver for their time. Cancellation fees are waived if the driver is more than 10 minutes late from the original ETA.

How are GeraRide drivers vetted?

Accepted Answer

Every driver goes through onboarding: identity verification by the Gera operations team, driving licence + insurance + roadworthiness documentation submitted by the driver, and a mandatory driver orientation session. Drivers must hold a current criminal record check from their own jurisdiction (e.g. enhanced DBS in the UK) and supply it at onboarding. Real DVLA-direct + Onfido biometric integration is on the roadmap for 2027. Drivers can be removed at any time.

What if I feel unsafe during a ride?

Use the in-app emergency button (shield icon on the ride screen) to silently alert emergency services with your real-time location, or call 999 directly. You can also tap "Share My Trip" to send a live location link to a trusted contact. Our 24/7 safety team monitors flagged trips in real time.

How do I report an issue with a driver or trip?

Accepted Answer

Go to Ride History, select the trip, and tap "Report an Issue." Choose from categories such as unsafe driving, inappropriate behaviour, wrong route, or lost property. Our safety team investigates all reports within 24 hours. For urgent concerns, call our safety line at +44 800 GERA RIDE (available 24/7).

Is there insurance coverage during a GeraRide ride?

Yes. Every GeraRide trip is covered by our GeraRide SafeGuard policy — comprehensive liability cover per trip for passengers and third parties. This policy is active from the moment you enter the vehicle until you exit. Drivers are also covered for personal accident during active trips.

Can I use GeraRide for business travel?

Yes. GeraRide Business accounts let you centralise all employee travel, set spending policies, and get consolidated invoices. Employees book rides normally on their app and charges are billed to the company account. Admin users can set ride categories, spending limits per employee, and time restrictions.

Do you offer monthly invoicing for businesses?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Business accounts receive a detailed monthly invoice with all trip data, employee names, purpose categories, and VAT breakdown. Invoices are available as PDF and CSV for accounting import. We also integrate with popular expense management tools including Xero and QuickBooks.
