GeraRide · Safety Guide
Verify your driver before getting in
Before entering any ride-hailing vehicle: check that the car make, model, and licence plate match what is shown in the app; check the driver photo matches the person in the car; confirm the driver states your name rather than you stating theirs (this prevents confusion and impersonation). GeraRide shows driver identity, photo, licence plate, and ratings before the car arrives.
Share your trip in real time
Always share your trip status with a trusted contact before getting in — GeraRide's live trip sharing sends a link that shows your real-time location throughout the journey. For late night rides or unfamiliar areas, stay on a call with someone for the duration of the trip. The GeraRide emergency button in-app connects you to emergency services with your GPS location pre-filled.
What to do if something feels wrong
If during a trip something feels unsafe: ask to be dropped at a public, populated location (petrol station, supermarket, restaurant); do not wait until you reach your destination if you feel at risk; call emergency services or use the in-app emergency button; report the incident through GeraRide immediately after with as much detail as possible. All reports are reviewed by GeraRide safety team within 24 hours.
